Holiday Gift Guide - Fantasy Jewelry Box Review

Are you looking for the perfect jewelry to go with your outfit for a Holiday dinner, or maybe even for New Years? I was, but now that I was sent the Karolanna's Butterfly Applique Black Fabric Necklace & Earrings Set to review I have one less accessory to worry about! This necklace goes along perfectly with low collared tops or dresses, and is gorgeous enough for the fanciest of dinners.

The choker style necklace does have a ring which is meant to be used as the clasp, but there is a bit of chain that fastens the ring to the fabric piece and I found I could wear the necklace closer to my neck by fastening it further down the chain.

The matching earrings are just as lovely, although one of mine was reversed and I had to fix it with a pair of pliers. If I had worn it as it came, the gem would have only been visible from the back of my head. The fabric on both the necklace & earrings is fairly delicate, so I didn't give it the toddler test by letting my daughter pull on it. I think the set should last for a long time as long as I can keep her away from it!

I also wanted to show off the Aralynn's Dainty Opal Sterling Silver Ring that I got myself for my birthday which was back in October. I had my eye on this ring ever since my first time looking around Fantasy Jewelry Box so my Birthday was the perfect time since Opal is Octobers Birthstone. I measured my finger using both a plastic ring sizer and the measurements provided on their site and found out that I would need a size 8.5. Since they do not offer half sizes, I ordered a size up and it turned out that size 9 was too big so be careful in choosing your size if your measurements are in between.

Fantasy Jewelry Box is the first place I look when I'm itching for a new piece of jewelry, and it's the first place I recommend when someone asks me where to find the best, inexpensive jewelry too! They specialize in Celebrity Inspired Jewelry, but also carry Faux Wedding Sets and even jewelry for Men!

Holiday Gift Guide - Misikko Hair Products

I have never been one to fuss over my hair, but I recently started getting comments from my family members on the fact that my hair wasn't looking it's best. I had let it go for so long without cutting, trimming, or really doing anything other than using regular shampoo and conditioner that the ends had split severely.

Since then, I've started working on getting my hair to look nice. The first thing I did was cut it, and then dyed it. Unfortunately, split ends can't simply be fixed by applying a hair product but over time I can just hope that the products I do have available will help protect my hair from further damage.

CHI Silk Infusion™ - Reconstructing Complex is specially formulated for thermal styling and hair repair. CHI Silk Infusion contains no alcohol, so it won't dry your hair out as a leave in treatment - and it'll leave your hair with the head-turning, lustrous shine of pure silk.

Farouk CHI Silk Infusion Features:

  •  Leave in, alcohol free reconstructing treatment
  • Enriched with pure natural silk, wheat and soy proteins
  • For soft manageable hair with incredible shine and no build up
  • Protects the hair against thermal styling and environment

Hana Shine Shield is the latest product in a line committed to safe, effective heat styling. Shine Shield is a thermal serum that can be used as a leave-in conditioner - lightweight and never greasy, it protects and strengthens hair whether you use it with a flat iron, hair dryer or alone. Shine Shield contains the natural magic of Jojoba oil for its superb qualities of deep moisturization, fast absorption into hair follicles and scalp, and unparalleled shimmer & shine. 6 oz.

Hana Shine Shield Features:
  • Lightweight leave-in conditioning therapy
  • Designed to protect and restore both hair and scalp from environmental and styling stress
  • Jojoba absorbs quickly without a greasy feel for thorough deep conditioning
  • Jojoba naturally dissolves soil, removing build-up from other styling products to leave hair clean & supple
  • Jojoba naturally excels at thickening keratin layers, bringing out your hair's natural color overtones, highlights and brilliance
  • Periodic use over time is proven to advance the quality of your hair & the health of your scalp

I received a bottle of CHI Silk Infusion and a bottle of Hana Shine Shield Thermal Protectant from Misikko for this review and feel like my hair looks better every time I use them. I found that I only needed to use a small amount of each so even though the bottles aren't very big I do think that it will be a while before I will need to replace them.

Not only did these products help make my hair look better and feel softer, they have also helped make my hair much more manageable. I've owned my hair dryer for years, but rarely used it because it would make my hair frizzy. Now, I use it every time I shower and my hair actually looks nice! Instead of wondering if people are noticing how bad my hair looks, I wonder if they notice how good it looks. Thanks Misikko!

I would love to eventually own one of the CHI Hair Straightener's and a new hair dryer. I'm still undecided which one would be the best hair dryer for me since they all look pretty fantastic, but the Ed Hardy Love Kills one is very tempting simply due to the detailing.

Holiday Gift Guide - Bigen Hair Color

I had been wanting to get my hair dyed for quite a while, but the cost has been holding me back for sometime. I have always thought that doing it myself would be complicated, so have never tried but as somebody who is willing to try anything once I couldn't turn the chance to try out some of Bigen's ammonia free hair color. I picked out two colors; Deep Burgundy and Dark Auburn and received them within just a few days.

About:
Bigen Permanent Hair Color is ideal for those looking for long lasting 100% gray coverage or to enhance their natural hair color. Bigen permanent hair color is ammonia free and requires no hydrogen peroxide. The unique powder formula is activated by water to naturally open the hair’s cuticle to deposit rich, natural color into even the most stubborn gray hair. This deposit only color is the gentle choice and has been proven for over thirty years.
At first I was a little confused. After mixing the powder dye with water, the directions say to apply onto dry hair with a brush yet there is no brush or comb included with the package. Other brands that I have seen my Mom use included a comb for application yet this one only included the measuring tray, a pair of plastic gloves, and the powder. I ended up using my fingers to glop the mixture (which had a runny jam type consistency) into my hair. I then used a wide tooth comb to even it out.

I had originally planned to use the Dark Auburn for my entire head, with the Deep Burgundy as highlights. My daughter got a hold of the packages and when I put the bottles back into the boxes I ended up mixing them up - as in I ended up using the Deep Burgundy on my entire head. It turned out to be a good thing as I was happy that the color resulted in an almost purple almost black shade. Not a bright purple by any means and it really needs just the right lighting to look purple, but I like it! I haven't used the Dark Auburn yet, but will once my hair is ready for more color.

This dye would be perfect for anyone who is sensitive to the harsh odors that many dyes have, and was very easy to use even for a first timer. If you know someone who is thinking about getting their hair done, or if you want to give yourself a new look for the Holidays Bigen ammonia and hydrogen-peroxide free hair color would make a great inexpensive gift!

But It!
Bigen is available at Wal Mart, Sally's Beauty, CVS and other fine retailers. Their store locator will help you find the closest one to you!

Holiday Gift Guide - EZ Sox for toddlers

My toddler, like most at this age, likes to try to dress herself with what ever she happens to pick up. Sometimes she puts a shirt on like a skirt, sometimes she puts pants on like a hat! Regardless, she enjoys doing it, but it can be frustrating when she knows socks go on her feet and can't figure out how to fit both her fingers and her foot into the small hole.

I received a pair of EZ Sox for review and my daughter was happy to try them out as soon as I handed them to her. I showed her how to put her fingers into the loops, and it wasn't long before she was pulling them on all by herself.

About EZ Sox:
Created by parents who tired of seeing their young son struggle dressing himself, Eileen and Ronnie Gesser designed socks with pull-up loops on both sides of each sock, and fun graphics on the tops of the socks. In no time, their son was no longer frustrated and proudly dressing himself. Today this fun and easy teaching tool for teaching kids self-sufficiency is the only one of its kind.

Next to toothbrushes, socks are one of the handful of things that are guaranteed to be under my tree every year. If you have a toddler that is getting frustrated trying to put on regular socks, these are brilliant and worth checking out!

Buy It:
You can purchase EZ Sox online at http://www.ezsox.com. EZ Sox are also sold in 30 boutique stores throughout North America and one US Chain Store with 36 retail outlets. A Japanese distributor has EZ Sox in more than 70 retail stores in Japan.

Holiday Gift Guide - T-Shirt from Costume Squad (US Only)

Personally, I think costumes are fun for any time of the year. Unfortunately, many people don't agree but we don't need to let the costume shops gather dust all year either.

Costume Squad is brought to us by the owners of Crazy Dog T-Shirts and while they do have a nice selection of Halloween Costumes, they also sell Funny T-Shirts!

I received the Gizzy is the Shizzy T-Shirt in size XL for this review. This isn't a baggy XL, it is stretchy and fits me comfortably but if you don't like close fitting clothes or are larger than XL this may be too small for you. The T-Shirts brand is Tultex and is made with a soft 100% cotton. The image is printed to look like it came straight from the 80's.

Come on... who didn't think Gizmo was the cutest thing ever back then? Who still thinks Gizzy is the Shizzy? I Do!

I washed the shirt in cold with the rest of my dark colored clothes and the image didn't fade or peel off in any way so I have no complaints about this T-Shirt!

Have someone on your shopping list who loves vintage style or funny tees? Check out Costume Squad and Crazy Dog T-Shirts!

Win It!
One of you will will win a mystery Tee in your choice of size (Mens), or a $15 Gift Card
Open to US Only, Ends December 15th
Note: Winners cannot have won a shirt from us or have been sent a shirt for promotional purposes in the last 90 days.

Holiday Gift Guide - Katazoom Vinyl Wall Decals

Vinyl wall decals have become pretty popular these days, so I was happy to have the chance to try one out from Katazoom. Prices range from $4.99 - $29.99 and since Katazoom has a decent sized selection, it took me a little while to decide which decal to review.

Now, nearly every wall in my house has texture on them which is not ideal for vinyl decals. I choose the "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass it's about learning to dance in the rain" wall decal because I thought it would look nice on a large mirror that I have in my livingroom, but I knew as soon as I took this decal out of the mailing tube it arrived in that my plan was just not going to be possible. It turns out, someone had made a custom order shortly before my decal was printed so instead of the 20" x 7.5" decal pictured on the right; the one I received was much bigger. Nearly twice as big at 43" x 16". At first I was confused, and mentioned how I was surprised that it was so big. The mistake wasn't caught until I asked the owner, Tom, if the measurements in the shop were wrong and sent him the measurements of my decal. He was very nice to offer to send me another decal with the proper measurements, but I declined since I did receive the product, just super-sized!

Unfortunately, since the only walls that are not textured are the ones in the kids' rooms, I did not put this up. As you can see, it isn't really a kids' room type of quote and since it is not re-usable (though it is easily removable) I decided to save it for when I move and hope that my new walls are smooth! This vinyl wall decal would have looked perfect in my living room or even in a hall. If I had a hall that is.

Even though I didn't put it up on my wall, I still think it is safe for me to say that I do believe that these are high quality decals and I hope you will all check them out! Katazoom does have a 100% satisfaction guarantee which allows you to return any unused decals within 7 days of purchase for a full refund of the purchase price (less shipping).

Here are some more details from the site:
  • Each decal is made of high quality, self-adhesive and waterproof vinyl
  • Decals can be applied to any clean, smooth and flat surface.
  • Each order comes with installation instructions.
  • All our decals intended for indoor use will be produced on matte vinyl with a special removable adhesive. This makes for easy removal and significantly reduces the risk of wall damage.
  • Outdoor decals are produced on standard 5 year vinyl
Buy it!
Katazoom Decals are available to purchase on Etsy as well as on Ebay. Shipping is free to the US, $1.95 to Canada and only $3.95 for everywhere else.

Win it!
One of you will win your choice of decal, valued up to $17.95!

Holiday Gift Guide - Masterlock Speed Dial

I had the chance to review and giveaway one of the new Master Lock Speed Dial padlocks back in August, and I'm excited to let you all know that Master Lock recently received the 2010 Chicago Innovation Award as detailed in the press release from November 9th below. To to celebrate this achievement, they have given me another Speed Dial to offer to one of my readers!
MASTER LOCK RECEIVES 2010 CHICAGO INNOVATION AWARD
Security Industry Leader Honored for Game-Changing Speed Dial Set-Your-Own Combination Lock

MILWAUKEE, November 9, 2010 – Master Lock was recognized at the ninth annual Chicago Innovation Awards last week for forever altering the way combination locks function with its 1500iD Speed Dial Set-Your-Own Combination Lock and the lock’s first-of-its-kind directional combination system.

The Master Lock Speed Dial and nine other products were chosen as winners from more than 332 nominees representing the Chicago region’s most innovative new products and services brought to market throughout the past year. Judges evaluated each entry on its success as a new product, the service it provides and its ability to uniquely satisfy unmet needs in the marketplace.

“We’re thrilled to have been honored for this innovation, which has proven to be one of the most successful new product launches that we’ve had in years,” said Rebecca Smith, vice president, marketing for Master Lock. “Consumers can continue to expect more distinctive security products to meet their unique needs from Master Lock in the future.”

The revolutionary Speed Dial features technology that won’t be found in any other padlock. It is the world’s first combination lock that opens on up, down, left and right directional movements making it faster, easier and more secure than rotary dial combination locks. The lock is faster to open than traditional locks, saving users valuable time as they hurry to and from class or their workouts at the gym. The innovative lock is customizable, allowing users to create their own easy-to-remember, resettable combination with any number of movements in any sequence. For those who prefer more traditional methods of recalling their combination, the lock includes adhesive letters, numbers, colors, shapes and symbols that can be applied over the lock’s directional arrows. It also offers a helpful solution for people who are visually impaired, as users don’t need to see the dial to open it.

The 1500iD Speed Dial Set-Your-Own Combination Lock is available at retailers and e-tailers nationwide, with a suggested retail price of $8.99. More information can be found here.

Holiday Gift Guide - Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop

My house is very small, and the amount of floor that needs to be mopped is even smaller but never the less - I don't think there is anyone who enjoys using a mop & pail. In fact, I have tipped the pail over more times than I'm willing to admit and using a separate spray bottle just so that I could use my other microfiber mop was getting to be just as annoying.

The Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop first caught my attention back in August so when I was offered one in exchange for a review I gladly accepted it!

Now, a mop might not be the first thing you think of when doing your Holiday shopping but when a mop is as easy to use as this one I wouldn't have been complaining if I had found it under my tree. In fact, I did get one for my Mom, although I already gave it to her instead of waiting until Christmas.

The reusable microfiber pads easily velcro to the bottom of the mop which is safe to use on all hard floors including vinyl, hardwood, laminate and tile. They are 16.5”L x 5.5”W and can pick up 50% more dirt and dust per swipe than traditional mops.

The mess that my kids manage to make of my floors each day is pretty scary looking, but other than large spills - this mop has been able to tackle larger messes than I would have ever been able to clean with my old microfiber mop! These pads can be machine washed up to 100 times and I'm sure they will continue to be well used in my house!

The Refillable Spray bottle allows you to stop buying expensive solutions and create your own using your favorite household cleaner or use plain hot water. The spray created by this mop is quite a bit bigger than the other spray mop I have tried, not only that I love that 1. There is no need to buy brand specific cleaning solution. 2. There is no waste or need to buy disposable cleaning pads. 3. NO BATTERIES required! Save money. Save time. Save your floors with the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop! (Or at least clean them)

I received the kit pictured above which comes with 3 microfiber pads and 2 solution bottles, though when you purchase the mop alone it only comes with one of each. Purchasing the kit or even just buying extras may be a good idea.
Here are a few ideas for a solution you can try:

This solution works well on hardwood floors:
Cleaning Solution 1
• 2 Tablespoons ammonia
• ½ cup white vinegar
• ½ teaspoon of baby shampoo
• Fill the rest with hot water

This solution is perfect for glazed tiles, vinyl, soft tile, cement, brick, and laminate:
Cleaning Solution 2
• 2Tablespoons white vinegar
• 2-3 drops liquid soap
• Fill the rest with hot water

This solution is great for unglazed tiles, marble, stone, and slate:
Cleaning Solution 3
• 2 Tablespoons baking soda
• 2-3 drops liquid soap
• Fill the rest with hot water

This solution also works well on hardwood floors:
Cleaning Solution 4
• 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
• 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
• Fill the rest with hot water

Please follow all manufacture recommendations when choosing products to clean your floor.

Buy it: You can purchase your own Reveal Spray Mop directly from http://www.rubbermaid.com or take a look for them at your local Home Depot, Wal Mart and Target stores. Additional pads, bottles, and even a dusting pad are available as well!

Win it: One of you will win your own Reveal Spray Mop with 3 cleaning pads and an extra solution bottle! Open to Canada and The US - Ends December 13th

Johnson's® Natural™ Review & Giveaway

Have you seen the new Johnson's Natural in stores yet? Johnson's have been a favorite in my house for years, and just when you thought they couldn't make a great product better - they did.
In response to the growing number of moms looking for natural products for their families that won’t break their bank and can easily be incorporated into their daily routines, JOHNSON’S® Baby has developed a new JOHNSON’S® NATURAL™ line for both babies and kids, which contains a unique combination of at least 98% natural ingredients and over 100 years of baby care experience.
With the new JOHNSON'S® Natural™ product line, JOHNSON'S® will be the first brand to bring effective, trusted, natural products to the mass consumer at an affordable price; making high-quality, natural products available for everyone and giving ALL moms the chance to choose what is best for her family. Priced starting at $4.59, JOHNSON'S® Natural™ is now available nationwide at food, drug and mass retail stores.

I had the chance to try out each of the new products; JOHNSON'S® NATURAL™ HEAD-TO-TOE® Foaming Baby Wash, JOHNSON'S® NATURAL™ Baby Shampoo, JOHNSON'S® NATURAL™ Baby Lotion, JOHNSON'S® NATURAL™ 2-in-1 Kids Hand & Face Foaming Wash, and JOHNSON'S® NATURAL™ 3-in-1 Kids Shampoo, Conditioner & Body Wash. Each of these are fantastic, leaving skin soft and smooth and of course without any tears!

My older kids were a little reluctant to use them since they thought Johnson's was only for babies, but once I forced convinced them to use it they warmed up to it pretty fast. My kids especially liked how easily the 3-in-1 rinsed off - meaning they didn't have to rinse their hair 2 or 3 times to get all the bubbles out.

The pump top bottles on the Baby Lotion, Baby Wash, and the Kids Hand & Face foaming wash are extra handy when dealing with a slippery toddler who hates bath time. I only wish the Baby Shampoo included the same convenient pump top too! I have used the kids formula on my toddler without any issues.

To coincide with the launch of the new line, JOHNSON’S® has introduced a new micro site, www.johnsonsnatural.com, where moms can get information about the products and ingredients, receive coupons and view a series of videos that offer tips on how to affordably incorporate natural living into everyday family life.

Buy it!

Holiday Gift Guide - Prank Packs

When I received an email for what I thought was an invitation to review an iArm my first impression would best be described in one word - Huh? I then started to think of the possibilities and considered whether this would be a product that I could actually put to use in order to write a fair review.

Once I scrolled down to read on, I couldn't help but laugh at myself when I realized that I was not looking at a strange new product, but a very funny gift box. If Prank Packs were able to fool me through email, imagine the reaction you would get from your un-expecting gift recipients! If you are anything like me, you should be more than happy to take any chance you can get to cause a little laughter with your loved ones.

I chose two funny gift boxes for this review - the Coffee Talkies and the Wake & Bake Griddle. Now, I haven't gifted them yet so I can't tell you about the reactions they caused but based on my own reaction upon first glance, I'm sure it will be a blast.

Prank Packs are made in the USA of American cardboard and ink and are available in 9 different designs. They measure 11.25 x 9 x 3.25 - the size of a giant phone book. Sure to be the hit of the next party you're dragged into, Prank Pack fake gift boxes appear to contain ridiculous products from clueless companies. Just pack your real gift inside, sit back and revel in their half-hearted enthusiasm.

Got a person on your gift list who loves coffee...really loves coffee? Put your gift in a Coffee Talkie box. They'll look at you cross-eyed. Guaranteed.
Know someone whose hobbies include cooking and/or sleeping? Then the Dream Griddle is the perfect gift! With industry-leading features like a convenient Snooze/Preheat function and a built-in carbon monoxide detector; it's easy to see why Wake & Bake is the clear choice.

Buy it!
Prank Packs cost $8 each, or you can buy 3 for $20 with a flat rate of $5 for US shipping no matter how many you buy.

Win It!
One of you will get to choose your own Prank Pack!
Open to Canada and the US, Ends November 22nd

How To Enter:
Check out the different Prank Pack designs, and tell me which one you would chose if you win.
