Holiday Gift Guide - Prank Packs

When I received an email for what I thought was an invitation to review an iArm my first impression would best be described in one word - Huh? I then started to think of the possibilities and considered whether this would be a product that I could actually put to use in order to write a fair review.

Once I scrolled down to read on, I couldn't help but laugh at myself when I realized that I was not looking at a strange new product, but a very funny gift box. If Prank Packs were able to fool me through email, imagine the reaction you would get from your un-expecting gift recipients! If you are anything like me, you should be more than happy to take any chance you can get to cause a little laughter with your loved ones.

I chose two funny gift boxes for this review - the Coffee Talkies and the Wake & Bake Griddle. Now, I haven't gifted them yet so I can't tell you about the reactions they caused but based on my own reaction upon first glance, I'm sure it will be a blast.

Prank Packs are made in the USA of American cardboard and ink and are available in 9 different designs. They measure 11.25 x 9 x 3.25 - the size of a giant phone book. Sure to be the hit of the next party you're dragged into, Prank Pack fake gift boxes appear to contain ridiculous products from clueless companies. Just pack your real gift inside, sit back and revel in their half-hearted enthusiasm.

Got a person on your gift list who loves coffee...really loves coffee? Put your gift in a Coffee Talkie box. They'll look at you cross-eyed. Guaranteed.
Know someone whose hobbies include cooking and/or sleeping? Then the Dream Griddle is the perfect gift! With industry-leading features like a convenient Snooze/Preheat function and a built-in carbon monoxide detector; it's easy to see why Wake & Bake is the clear choice.

Buy it!
Prank Packs cost $8 each, or you can buy 3 for $20 with a flat rate of $5 for US shipping no matter how many you buy.

Win It!
One of you will get to choose your own Prank Pack!
Open to Canada and the US, Ends November 22nd

{Fathers Day Gift Ideas} ~ Random thoughts and Memories

I will be honest, over the years I really haven't made Father's Day into that big of a deal. When I am told "Happy Mother's Day!" it makes me feel good, like it really is a special day. When I have received a gift - even better! It seems like the kids even behave themselves on Mothers Day. I have always said "Happy Father's Day" to the Dad's in my life, but I don't think I have ever gone the extra mile to make it a special day. Why does Father's Day seem like it is less important? I really wish I knew, and now that I am sitting here thinking about it I am feeling quite badly! For any Dad's that may be reading this, I hope your Father's day is truly something wonderful !

My family isn't huge on gifts because we have been used to working with a very small budget, but I hope that over the coming years I can start buying some of the things we would both love to have. Just imagine the look on your special guy's face if he came home to a brand new surround sound system, a flat screen tv or a digital camera from overstock.com! Ok, Ok.... I would probably use the camera more than he would, but it's the thought that counts - right ?? Maybe I can tell him I bought it so he can take pictures of me! There I go again. This is about Fathers Day. *deep breath*

Realistically, as much as I would love to get them for him, those things probably aren't going to make the cut this time around. My husband is living in a different province and has been telling me he misses the kids. I am seriously considering getting some camping gear so the kids and I can go stay closer to him. I'm sure he would enjoy using it himself when he gets the chance to as well. What better gift for fathers day than being able to see your kids!? If that doesn't work out, I have also been looking at some laptop computers and webcams so that we can chat online and see each other that way.

My Dad passed away, but I have many wonderful memories of him. He and his brother loved golfing, and each year he would talk about getting himself some new golf equipment and a golf cart. I would always try to talk him out of it, because as much as he talked about it - he never played unless his brother was in town. He was always happy with the gifts of home baked goodies or dinner, but now that he is gone I wish I could have given him everything he wanted - Growing up that is what he did for me, whenever he could. My Dad really was a great man who spent more time helping others than himself, and he deserved to have everything that he wanted. Cherish the time you have, it really does slip away before your eyes!

Has the perfect gift caught your attention yet? What do you plan to buy for your loved ones this Fathers Day ?

Don't forget to check out my other Father's Day gift ideas! I have some great giveaways going on and one more to post, which I hope to get up soon!

{Fathers Day Gift Ideas }~ The Second Coming E-Book ~ Review and Giveaway ! ~ 5 Winners ~

Five hundred years have passed since the Earth shifted on its axis - a catastrophic event that wiped out civilization and released the powers of the dead back to Earth. With technology long abandoned, a dark age has shrouded our world once more. Travel to a future of blood sacrifice, demons, witchcraft, and an immoral God that has returned to reclaim his former dominion.

Disclaimer from the Author: If you are sensitive about your religious beliefs, this is likely not the book for you. And this book is ebook only, but it can be downloaded in any format you like.

Dark fantasy and horror are my favorite types of books. Especially when they are written so well that I don't want to put the book down! The Second Coming fit that description perfectly, other than it only being available as an ebook. I don't own an ereader and unfortunately I had to read it on my computer, so even though it took me longer to read it was still well worth it!

The author, David H. Burton put so much detail into this book. The characters, the scenery, the plot; all entwined together with an unbelievable depth. Nymphs, Demons, Ghouls and magic made this a very thrilling story that I will be reading again (while I hope for a sequel)!

This one is more my style than my husbands, but if your husband likes dark and detailed apocalyptic and paranormal fiction - this might be the perfect unique gift for Fathers Day!

The book was also chosen for a Goodreads group discussion in July!

{Fathers Day Gift Ideas} ~ Bad Idea T-Shirts ~ Review and Giveaway !

I love funny T-Shirts. I even love many of the downright offensive ones. Usually, my husband is the one that gets to have all the funny shirts but this time I chose one from Bad Idea T-Shirts for me!

I have a hard time choosing clothing for myself, especially t-shirts. Many brands tend to not fit the way I like them so I was a little worried about ordering online and not knowing if I was going to be getting the right size - or whether if I would be receiving a quality t-shirt that wouldn't fall apart.

Since summer is here, I chose a spaghetti tank because I can't stand the heat - and was very happy to see that it is indeed of excellent quality! Many lower priced shirts that I have bought because I liked the design or quote ended up being so thin that they become see through when worn, or have letters that come off in the wash - This was not the case with the shirt I got from Bad Idea. After wearing and washing the silk screen lettering looks good as new!

Ignore the cat hair and admire the shirt!
Buy Me Things and I'll Be Nicer .... love it !

They have a handy size chart on their site to help you find the right size.I got a size large, and it fits a little snug - but still with enough stretch to breastfeed while wearing it.I find this happens with many brands for the fit, and XL is often too big because I have a larger waist with a smaller chest.

My husband had a look through the site with his friends, and they could be heard laughing all through the house. Bad Idea Tee's has many different shirts to suit anyone's style, but I did notice they had more options in the mens section. My husband made me promise to go back and buy the ones that were his favorites! There are a few more that I need would like for myself too.

These would make a great Father's Day Gift for your funny man, or even as a gift for yourself! With more than 1000 designs to choose from, everyone is sure to be able to find the one they love. The shirts are 100 percent pre-shrunk cotton and they now have American Apparel shirts as well!

Buy it!

Right now, all of their designs are on sale for 50% off, starting at only $7.50! This is a great deal for a high quality t-shirt!

Win it!

One lucky reader will win the T-Shirt of their choice!

{Fathers Day Gift Ideas} ~Tex Mex Gourmet Gift Basket ~ Review and Giveaway!

While shopping for gifts or special occasions, I often pass by the pre-made gift baskets. They just never seem to have enough options or quantities for my likes, not to mention that with 4 kids - leaving the house to go gift shopping isn't always as easy as it sounds.

Gourmet Gift Baskets have such a vast selection of baskets that you should have no problems finding the perfect one, even for those hard to shop for friends. The best part is, you can do all your shopping online and have your basket delivered right to your door!

I chose the Tex Mex basket simply because it is full of things I knew I would love. It actually comes with a few extra things that aren't listed on the site, and was more then enough to share with my family. If I had been shopping for a Fathers Day Gift for my husband I may have chosen the Beer-B-Q Bucket or the Car Wash Bucket. Check out my post here on my opinions and photos of each item in the Tex Mex basket!

If you are looking for the perfect gift for Fathers Day or for that someone special, Gourmet Gift Baskets might have just what you need!

The shipping time really impressed me. I am in Canada so I am used to most packages taking 1-2 weeks to arrive. I was told the package was sent on Friday, and it arrived on Monday! That means there is still plenty of time to have your basket delivered before Fathers Day!

Buy it!

With prices starting at just $25, there is something to fit every one's budget and tastes ~ I know I will be back for more!

Win it!

One lucky reader will win the same Tex-Mex basket that I received! This is a $69.99 value!!

{Fathers Day Gift Ideas} ~ The Knight Life ~ Book Review & Giveaway ~ 2 Winners!

Info From Hachette:
The Knight Life is a hilariously twisted view of life through the eyes and pen of its creator, community-oriented urban hipster and award-winning cartoonist Keith Knight. The Knight Life deftly blends political insight and neurotic humor in a uniquely fluid and dynamic style, offering a comic strip that's fresh, sharp, topical and funny. Designed for daily newspapers, The Knight Life follows Knight's long-running, 2007 Harvey Award-winning weekly comic strip "The K Chronicles," which appears on salon.com.

An unabashedly provocative political and social satire, The Knight Life tackles contemporary issues like consumer culture, bacon, the media, race, family and everything else, gently mocking the minutiae of daily life with self-deprecating humor, honesty and goofiness-a combination that's perfect for the comics. And The Knight Life's energetic style reminds readers that comics can look funny as well as read funny. The result is accessible yet edgy, compassionate and political-and never preachy. Cartoonist and comic historian R.C. Harvey said, "The Knight Life is undeniably the best new laugh- and thought-provoker on the comics page. Not since Calvin and Hobbes has there been so novel an entertainment in the funnies."

My Review:
I did not read this book myself yet, but my son and my husband both read it. It took my son two evenings, and my husband around 2 hours to finish the book. My husband said, rather than reading it from cover to cover he would have preferred to have read it slowly as casual reading on a lazy day. It did have some great illustrations, but there was quite a bit of the humor that we didn't understand since we are Canadian and some of it was targeted at American politics. There is nothing that is overly racial or inappropriate and the book was good for some laughs throughout.

If you are looking for something a little different than the average comic, then The Knight Life might be for you! It may be a great Fathers Day or anytime gift for the comic lover in your life.Personally, I think my Dad would have loved this book. He collected comics, and had a huge stack of newspaper comics saved up - several years worth! I don't think there ever was a comic that he didn't like..
