ChicoBag Holiday Bag Review

I received a 2010 Holiday Bag from ChicoBag a little too late to be included in my Holiday Gift Guide, but unfortunately with Canadian shipping things like that happen now and then. The idea that ChicoBag had with their limited edition Holiday Bag was that it could be used for gift wrapping. I thought that was an excellent idea!

The 2010 Holiday Bag is made of durable woven polyester which allows for easy opening and stuffing. Some bags can be difficult to fold back into the small size they were when purchased, but ChicoBags do not require any special folding. You can literally stuff them in any way you like and toss them into your purse or anywhere else you would like to have them handy. The Holiday Bag that I received measures approximately 19" x 15.5" or 3.5" x 5" when folded (stuffed). The larger size is great for fitting a lot of stuff and this bag has a capacity of 40 pounds! Now I didn't try to carry 40 pounds around in it, but the kids were happy that their board games fit inside when they went for a sleepover since most of the bags we have are not long enough for the large board game boxes.

You can check out this video on how to wrap your gifts with a reusable shopping bag:

While the 2010 Holidays may have passed, there are plenty of other reasons to use reusable bags throughout the year and there are plenty of reasons to use them for gifts too! Take a look at their newest limited edition bags for Valentines Day. It looks like these ones won't be available until January 20th, but they sure are cute!

The Valentines Day bags are a little smaller than the Holiday Bag, but they still have a good size to them at 18"x14.5" and a capacity of 25 pounds.

{Halloween Birthday Bash} Halloween ChicoBag

In my last ChicoBag Review, I mentioned their new Halloween bags and when I was given the chance to review one I jumped on it! Once it arrived in the mail I was surprised to see that it is much bigger than I had assumed it was based off of their photos. At 18" x 14.5" it is big enough to hold quite a few goodies!

My daughter has used the small pumpkin shaped bags that you can get from stores for the past few years, but now that she is older and willing to do more walking around it was time to get her a bigger bag so she will be happy to be able to use this one. With the two large handles, she will be able to easily carry the bag over her shoulder or in her hands.

Children in the US can submit their own designs for the 2010 Halloween Bag design contest and you can purchase your own Halloween ChicoBag online for only $5.99. You can also check out their store locator to find your local retailers. There are 3 different pouch designs available, and I love that it folds up so small that you can easily fit it into your pocket or purse. Like the larger bag that I reviewed, it also includes a clip so you can attach it to whatever you would like when it is folded. It can be machine washed in cold, and hung to dry.

Trick or treaters can now put the "eek" into their eco-friendly celebration by toting ChicoBag's™ 2010 reusable Trick-or-Treat bag. ChicoBag™ realized there was no one better to create our annual Halloween bag design than the user. We decided to hold a contest for the best green-spirited Halloween design and invited students nationwide to participate. This year's design was inspired by Gracie Gralike and is available with two different pouch options; a bat pouch or a pumpkin pouch. In addition to last year's winning design, there is also a Jack-o-Lantern design printed on an orange bag. All three designs are featured on our Original ChicoBag™ brand reusable bag, providing trick-or-treaters plenty of room for their goodies!

The
ChicoBag™ design contest is co-sponsored by Green Halloween®, a grassroots movement that is helping families and communities nationwide start new, healthier holiday traditions. Submissions are being taken until October 31, 2010.

What's even sweeter? 10% of the sale of each bag will be contributed to Green Halloween®, the organization making Green Halloween (and other great initiatives) possible!

{Cool for School} Chico Bags

It's always good to have an assortment of reusable bags on hand, I keep a few in my vehicle, in my diaper bag, and clipped onto my stroller so that I will have one handy even when I didn't intend on needing one when I left the house. They can be used for everything from shopping to school books and the best part is that they stay out of the landfills.

For this review I received the DayPack20 rePETe™ from Chico Bags, which is one of the many styles of bags that they have available. It has a lycra pocket on each side which can hold a water bottle, and also two smaller pockets that can hold pens or other small items. The opening on the top is unlike any other bag I have seen and even though it doesn't fasten closed, the weight of the bags contents against your shoulders keep it from opening. It has adjustable shoulder straps and even a loop near the top which could possibly be used to clip your keys onto. The bag folds into itself and becomes very compact, easy to tuck out of the way where ever you like and has a metal clip so that you can attach it to anything you want (like your stroller).

The DayPack20 rePETe™ is the first product in our line of elite, pouch-able, lifestyle packs. The DayPack20 rePETe™ is an advanced, ultra-lightweight backpack made of durable, recycled PET ripstop fabric and is designed for the adventurer in us all. The DayPack20 easily stuffs into an integrated zip pouch, which turns into a hidden pocket when the DayPack is opened into its full size. With adjustable straps, flexible lycra bottle pockets and a unique closure system, this compact backpack is perfect to throw in your suit case or under your bike seat. The DayPack20 has a new sternum strap accessory (sold separately) for added support and stabilization.
Like all ChicoBag™ brand rePETe™ products, the DayPack20 rePETe™ is made of recycled content. This industry-leading DayPack is produced of 95% recycled content and lists the recycled materials used in production on the backside of the pouch. This lightweight DayPack is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, urban shoppers committed to the environment, and those of us dedicated to commuting by bicycle and reducing our carbon footprint.
I love the assortment of colors and styles that are available from Chico Bag. I also own one of their Messenger Bags, and while I prefer the Messenger over the DayPack they are both of excellent quality. They are machine washable, durable enough for a heavy load and look great too. They even have super cute, limited edition Halloween bags available right now or you can request custom made bags too!
