Holiday Gift Guide - Skillet Bacon Jam

I received this teeny tiny, basically free sample size, jar of Bacon Jam to review and like most of us do when looking at a new and unheard of food - gave it the sniff test. It didn't smell horrible, though the scent only faintly reminded me of bacon. Next came the tip of the finger taste test, followed by a little more, and then a little more after that.

Wait...what the heck is skillet bacon jam?

Description as printed on the label:
we make this bacon spread condiment called bacon jam..you say what?.. that’s right, we use niman ranch bacon and render it down along with onions, balsamic and other spices . It cooks for several hours until it is a perfect blend of smoky, tangy, savory and slightly sweet….basically spreadable bacony goodness! USDA approved.
I'm fairly open to trying new things, but at first glance I honestly wasn't expecting to like this. My Husband, who loves bacon, refused to even give it a chance. If you are the type of person who won't eat something solely based on on the way it looks - this product probably isn't for you. Picture what pre-chewed bacon might look like and you've got bacon jam!

Now, if you are like me and are willing to try out new things - you need to try this! According to the website, this "jam" is good on burgers, crostini's, grilled cheese, a substitute for bacon on a BLT + more... Well, I never had a chance to try it on any of those things. This spread is so freaking delicious that, using a tiny baby spoon, I ate it all up straight out of the jar. I managed to make it last nearly 3 days but that took a lot of self control. I could not leave it alone, and now I'm sad because it's all gone!

If you are lucky enough to live in Seattle, you can buy your own bacon jam locally. The rest of us can order online from www.skilletbaconjam.com or shoot an email to eat@skilletstreetfood.com if you have any questions.

If you decide to try it yourself, let me know what you think of it!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commissions 16 CFR, Part 255 Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post. Thanks!
