Someone hacked my World of Warcraft account..

Ok , I'm out of the closet. I am a video game junkie. My mom met her husband through an online game , and I met mine through his son. I don't play games as often as I used to , but I still love them and play whenever I don't feel like blogging or reading.

Not that the account really mattered to me anymore. I haven't played it in nearly a year , which is why I was surprised to get an email saying I had requested a password change. I was able to change my password , but not able to log into the account because it was telling me I had registered an authenticator and needed to put in my code. I have never purchased the authenticator so I was starting to wonder what was up.

The next day I got an email saying I have been suspended for exploitative activity ! This is the one that prompted me to email blizzard to find out what was going on because I haven't been doing anything at all in the game - it isn't even currently installed on my computer !

It took them a couple days to get back to me , but they were able to confirm that the account had been accessed by an unauthorized user and immediately banned the IP from logging onto the account. They sent me instructions on how to change the password again , and removed the authenticator so that I would be able to log on.

I don't know how this happened , the password was very different from the passwords I use for any other site and wasn't something that could have been easily guessed. My kids didn't know the password , and as far as I know , no one else did either. I'm just glad it was a video game and not my bank account !

Luckily , I recently won a copy of BitDefender Total Security 2010 from My Real Review. But unfortunately I hadn't installed the program yet. It is now fully installed , and once I have had some experience with it I will post my own review !

sry to hear and yeah it is a good thing it was a game but still i dont really think that much stops these stupid hackers that have nothing better to do than screw with people. Sad thing is no matter what programs you use out there the hackers just keep gettin smarter and find back doors to just about anything. My friends asked me before why I don't get some kinda security protecting my identity but I keep tellin them if someone stole my identity they would be gettin screwed cuz i got nothin, not even good credit or any credit for that matter they would lose interest in me fast..ha ha.
